State Senator George Edwards after sitting through hours and hours of testimony from Marylanders frustrated with the state system handling unemployment benefits- said its time for the governor and the labor secretary to start providing some answers. Edwards, a Republican who represents Western Maryland, is a member of the senate’s budget and taxation committee which was one of two committee conducting a hearing on the issue this week- which saw more 1,000 citizens sign up to speak. The most common complain centered on their inability to talk to anyone or obtain any information about the status of their cases. Despite the vast criticisms- in recent public appearances both Governor Larry Hogan and Labor Secretary Tiffany Robinson- while acknowledging some issues with the system- said that most of the serious problems have been addressed.
