State Senator George Edwards who has served in Annapolis since 1983 and turns 72 this year tells WCBC News he has no intentions of slowing down anytime soon. Edwards, who will have served close to 40 years in the General Assembly when his current term ends in 2022, says that there are a number of reasons he plans to run at least one more time- mostly notably to see that the a certain level of stability is maintained within the District One delegation. Delegate Wendell Beitzel has already announced he won’t seek another term and Edwards believes having two open seats in the four member district in the same election could be disruptive and reduce the delegation’s standing in Annapolis.
