The Cumberland Times News reports a tractor-trailer driver suffered minor injuries just before dawn Tuesday when his truck traveled out of control and overturned on eastbound Interstate 68 east of the city limits, according to Maryland State Police. Bowman's Addition Volunteer Fire Department ambulance took the driver to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center following the 5:50 a.m. crash between the Hillcrest Drive and U.S. Route 220 exits. The accident remains under investigation by state police with the assistance of the agency's Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division. "It appears the accident occurred when the rig's load shifted," said a state police spokesman. No cargo was spilled. Eastbound I-68 was closed for about an hour. Units remained at the scene just before 10 a.m. when two eastbound lanes remained open to traffic. Bedford Road and Baltimore Pike volunteer firefighters also responded to the scene.
