Maryland State Police are investigating after two people were injured following a crash Saturday morning in Prince George’s County.
Shortly before 7:30 a.m., troopers from the Forestville Barrack responded to southbound Crain Highway south of Route 197 on a report of a single-vehicle crash. According to a preliminary investigation, a Chevrolet Equinox traveled off the road and crashed into a utility pole.
The driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old man, was reportedly ejected from the vehicle. The driver attempted to flee the scene, but was apprehended by officers from the Bowie Police Department. The passenger of the vehicle, a 23-year-old man, suffered a severe leg injury.
Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department crews responded to the scene and transported the driver and passenger by ambulance to University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center. No other vehicles were involved and no other injuries were reported as a result of this crash.
According to a preliminary investigation, drugs and/or alcohol may have contributed to this crash. Crain Highway was partially closed in the area of the crash for a little more than an hour. No charges have been filed at this time pending a completion of the investigation.
