The capital budget, death of a state leader, new green initiatives and the controversial minimum wage hike were among the issues addressed by the members of the District One delegation at the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce’ annual legislative wrap-up breakfast held Tuesday morning at the Cumberland Country Club. Delegate Mike McKay said that a bill that was pushed for by environmental groups led to Maryland becoming the first U.S. state to ban foam food packaging, takeout containers and cups—and the latest in a growing worldwide effort to ban various disposable single-use plastic products. McKay says the bill will be felt by businesses in the near future…
