At the same time Maryland’s incumbent Republican Governor Larry Hogan was in town to cut the ribbon on the new Allegany High School- his Democratic opponent was also in the area making a campaign swing through Garrett, Allegany and Washington counties. Ben Jealous, the Democratic candidate in Maryland’s governor race, made appearances in Grantsville, Frostburg and Hagerstown. His whirlwind visit saw stops at Main Street Books and Wholesome Harvest Co-Op in Frostburg; the Savage River Lodge; a meeting with members of the Allegany County Democratic Central Committee; and an address to the Maryland State Fraternal Order of Police. While recent polls show Hogan with a substantial lead over Jealous- he says those numbers are more a reflection of people liking Hogan personally, but are not showing support for his policies…
