Delegate Jason Buckel, during Thursday’s meeting of the Allegany County Commissioners, blasted a media report and expressed frustration with leaks he believes are coming from local government. The story in question ran on WCBC and concerned an economic development trip tentatively scheduled for next week. WCBC reported that an action item on the county agenda called for authorization for Buckel to attend the 2019 International Council of Shopping Centers Retail Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. A source told WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show” that the estimated cost for Buckel and one other individual could be around $10,000. Prior to the vote, Buckel addressed the commissioners asking they remove the item from the agenda- seemingly agitated by both the news report and the source of the information. Buckel left the meeting immediately after making his comments. Commissioners President Jake Shade was also clearly frustrated- however his frustration was more directed at the difficulties the county has been experiencing in developing and implementing a solid economic development plan. Ultimately, despite the request from Buckel to remove the item from the agenda, the commissioners vote 2-1 to approve it. Commissioner Creade Brodie Jr was the dissenting vote suggesting that other area developers will be attending the convention and can serve the county’s interests. Delegate Buckel was extended an invitation to appear on the Dave Norman Show today to discuss the situation.

I don’t know what everybody is complaining about I think the economic development in Allegany County is outstanding considering the unavailability of workers in other parts of the country we are doing great we have lots of workers available and I thought that was all you needed everyone else has to deal with extremely low unemployment and lack of workers I think we’re lucky

Delegate, you ask voters to elect you, why would you be upset about information concerning your trip to Vegas. Was it the cost?
