Former Allegany County Commissioner Mike McKay came under fire last week from the Cumberland Historic Cemetery Organization for what they say is failing to deliver on a promise to secure funding for the group. Edward Taylor Jr., president of the Organization, for a second consecutive year has requested funding from the county’s hotel/motel tax revenue fund. He pointed out that the organization has erected and restored to date over 5 million dollars worth of monuments in county cemeteries since 1983.
