Delegate Mike McKay, speaking during a town hall meeting this week, said he believes the legalization of recreational marijuana is likely to become a top issue in Maryland in the upcoming 2018 election. Mckay made those comments before a small crowd Thursday at the South Cumberland Library. According to the Cumberland Times News, McKay recently conducted a mail survey among 4,000 active voters in the 1C district. According to the survey, 76 percent oppose non-medical use of marijuana, with 20 percent supporting the sale of it for recreational purposes and 4 percent being unsure. A broader picture however is revealed in a Washington Post-University of Maryland poll conducted last fall showing 61 percent of Marylanders saying they supported the recreational use of marijuana. Support for legalizing the recreational use of marijuana has not been enthusiastic from House and Senate leaders- although Senate President Mike Miller concedes that it’s inevitable…
