Del. Buckel Says Letting Pedestrian Mall Remain As It Is Is Not Realistic

During a visit to downtown Cumberland this past October, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan pledged to commit $2.5 million toward the downtown mall redevelopment project. Addressing a large crowd that warm afternoon, Hogan said he will support the application for the Mall infrastructure effort , some of which is  eligible for TAP (Transportation Alternative Program) funding.  The plan being considered essentially will see the mall redesigned to allow for vehicular traffic.  While there are some in the community who would prefer to see the pedestrian mall remain as it has been since 1979- Delegate Jason Buckel said that is simply not realistic….
