Lawyers for the Assistant Washington County Administrator have placed that county’s commissioners on notice that she plans on filing a sexual harassment lawsuit against the county and former District 1C Delegate and current county commissioner Leroy Myers. The notice alleges Myers made unwanted inappropriate advance toward Sarah Sprecher while on a trade mission to South Korea in October, and then used his position of county commissioner to minimize her professional performance. According to the Bethesda based law firm representing Sprecher, the yet to be filed lawsuit will accuse Myers of sexual harassment, creating a hostile work environment, and intentionally inflicting emotional distress. The suit will also purportedly accuse Washington County officials of attempting to cover up Sprecher’s complaint, which was made known to her superiors in a March meeting held in a county car due to the sensitive nature of the issue. The notice, filed yesterday, informs the county of the intent to file suit and to take steps to insure the preservation of documentation related to the allegations and the timeline. When contacted by WCBC News, Commissioner Myer said, and we quote: The claim is untrue and I have done nothing wrong. Myers has retained Bruce Poole, of Hagerstown, as his attorney in this matter.
