On May 24, 2019 the Cumberland City Police served an arrest warrant on Desiree Lynne Smith. Ms. Smith was charged in connection with a stabbing that occurred on North Chase Street. Ms. Smith was taken before a District Court Commissioner and ordered held without bond.

OnThursday, officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to Bellevue Street for a reported assault.
Upon the officer’s arrival they observed a female with a stab wound on her arm.
According to the female, she was approached by three subjects who began harassing her. During this time, one of the three subjects, a female retrieved a knife from her purse and stabbed the victim.
Officers located the suspect, Destiny Renee White in the 600 block of Columbia Avenue.
White was placed under arrested and transported to the station for charges and processing. She was later transported to the District Court Commissioner’s office for her initial appearance. As a result of the hearing she was held at the Allegany County Detention Center on a $3,000.00 bond.
The victim of the assault was treated for the non-life threatening injury to her arm.
