Cumberland Schedules Constant Yield Hearing

May 19th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Mayor and City Council will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday at 6:15 PM at City Hall.

During the session, they will conduct a public hearing to receive comment regarding the city's intent to not adopt the recommended constant yield tax rate, but instead hold to the city's current rate of $1.0595 per $100 of assessed property value.

That item is part of a full agenda that also includes monthly reports from city departments.

Luckily for our municipal money pit, the assessed property values are vastly higher than their real market values even if there were a market. It is dreadful for the property owners but the government’s priority is the government.

And let’s keep ignoring the BIGGEST DRAIN on city coffers- healthcare costs for current & retired employees. Like thousands of towns and cities across America, the taxpayers are being drained by out of control drug & insurance thieves. Until we start a single payer or Medicare For All system we’ll continue to be fleeced and city services will still decline.
