Cumberland Police Make Hit & Run Warrant Arrests

On Monday, October 21st, 2019 the Cumberland Police Department responded to intersection of E. Fourth Street and Blackiston Avenue for the report of a hit and run accident.  When officers arrived, the victim in the accident and witnesses told officers that a dark-in-color vehicle driven by male struck the victim’s vehicle after he failed to yield the right-of-way on E. Fourth Street and left the scene.  Officers located a vehicle matching the given description in the area with damage.  The vehicle’s registered owner was James Arthur Bowen Jr.  of Cumberland.  Bowen was located by officers walking on Williams Street and question about the accident.  He initially tried to give officers a false name but then admitted to causing the collision and leaving the scene.  Bowen was arrested and charged with obstructing and hindering, providing false information to avoid prosecution, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, providing false accident information, failure to control speed, failure to yield the right-of-way, failure to control speed to avoid a collision, reckless driving, and negligent driving.  He was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center to await a bond review before the District Court Commissioner.

Warrant Arrest

 

On Monday, October 21st, 2019 the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Brittany Nichole Miller for violation of probation.  The warrant was issued by District Court on October 18th, 2019 for violating the conditions of her probation order by the court back in, July, 2019 for two assault charges.  She was taken to the Allegany County Detention to await a bond review before the District Court Commissioner.
