During the early morning hours Saturday, Cumberland City Police officers were dispatched to a Glenn Street address in reference to a reported assault. Upon arrival to the scene officers interviewed the victim in the assault and found the following:
Just prior to this call to police, the victim and their roommate had been involved in a verbal altercation involving domestic issues. The argument escalated, and the suspect in this case allegedly grabbed the victim by the throat and began choking them. The victim identified the suspect in this case as Craig Nelson Palmer, 28 of Cumberland.
During the investigation officers observed minor injuries to the victim and as a result Palmer was placed under arrest and charged with the one count of 2nd Degree Assault.
Palmer was processed and taken before an Allegany County District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance. Palmer was subsequently held at the Allegany County Detention Center on a $3,000.00 bond.
