On Sunday, February 18, 2018, the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Ethan Malet. The warrant was issued in connection with an investigation that was initiated on February 13, 2018. On this date just before 2:00 PM, city police officers responded to a Frederick Street address for a male subject attempting to break into the residence. Upon the officers’ arrival, they contacted the alleged victim who reported that Malet came to her residence and knocked on the front door. He then went to the rear door and threatened to burn her house down if she did not open the door. Malet then kicked the rear door multiple times, causing damage. The victim explained that her friend arrived on scene and called the police. Malet fled the area prior to police arrival. After investigation, an application for charges against Malet was filed by police at the District Court of Allegany County resulting in an arrest warrant being issued. Malet was arrested and taken before the District Court Commissioner. He was held at the Allegany County Detention Center without bail.
