CSX spokesman Rob Doolittle says emergency management officials and the railroad continue to continue to monitor the propane fire in Hyndman.

The evacuation order remains in effect at this time and officials do not have an estimate of when residents can expect to return to their homes.

Additional assessments are being conducted and they are developing an operational plan to help progress the recovery.

CSX teams also worked overnight to collect essential medicines and pets from within the evacuation zone and reunite them with their owners.

The community outreach centers that we have established will be open today from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. to continue providing assistance to residents.

Impacted residents to the north of the derailment are encouraged to visit the Bedford outreach center. The toll-free assistance line – 800-331-4031 – will be staffed throughout the day if residents have questions or need assistance with lodging, transportation, food, arrangements for pets, and other necessities.

CSX remains committed to supporting the residents who have been impacted by this event and restoring the community as quickly as safety allows. The cause of the incident remains under investigation. The National Transportation Safety Board is leading that effort. We will provide additional information as it becomes available.
