On Sunday, December 30th, 2018, an officer with the Cumberland City Police observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation in the area of Lamont St and Oldtown Rd. The vehicle then attempted to leave the area at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle in the area of Boone St and contact was made with the three occupants inside. During the course of the stop, a police K-9 was called upon to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle which indicated the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. During a subsequent search of the vehicle and its occupants, an amount of suspected crack cocaine and a large amount of currency was located on a male passenger who was identified as Brandon Bryant Butler. Officers then attempted to place Butler under arrest when he became disruptive and began to resist arrest. Officers were able to restrain Butler and he was transported to Police Headquarters for processing. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance where he was held without bail.

On Sunday, December 30th, 2018, the Cumberland City Police arrested Wilbert Leggett Page, of Cumberland MD. Page was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant for an alleged assault which occurred on November 23rd 2018. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner where he was released on his own personal recognizance.
