At approximately 1550 hours on April 24, 2018 officers were dispatched to a Virginia Avenue residence for a report of an assault. Officers arrived and made contact with the victim who had several cuts to his face and side. Officers learned that James Oliver Long had been arguing with the victim and had some point pulled a sharp object cutting the victim. The victim refused medical treatment as the injuries did not require medical treatment. Officers searched the area for Long but were unable to locate him. Officers were called back to the residence a short time later as Long had returned creating another disturbance. Officers arrived and Long was taken into custody without incident. Long was transported to Police Headquarters for processing, he was later taken before the District Court Commissioner where he was held on a $7,500.00 bond.

At approximately 0021 hours officers were dispatched to an Elm Street residence for a disturbance. Officers had been to this same residence for a disturbance earlier in the shift. Upon the arrival of officers they observed two people arguing on the rear porch of the residence. The male subject observed the officers and attempted to flee running through the house and exiting onto the street in front of the residence. The officers were able to catch the subject detaining him pending investigation. It was discovered that Dillon Roy Nicholson had a warrant for failing to appear for a Circuit Court hearing. Nicholson was taken into custody, during the search of his person officers located a baggie of suspected crack cocaine. Officers spoke with the owner of the residence and another tenant gaining consent to search the common areas of the home. The owner stated that Nicholson was in the middle room most of the evening and when officers checked that area they located two additional baggies of suspected crack cocaine consistent with baggie located on his person. Nicholson was transported to Police Headquarters for processing. Nicholson was later taken before the District Court Commissioner where he was released pending trial.
