County United Way, Inc. recently launched a new division of its annual campaign focused on small business. Business owners understand that a strong, healthy community is good for the economy, and through this initiative, they can now proudly show their support. For only a dollar a day, or $365 a year, businesses can make an impact in people’s lives. Membership is helping County United Way serve communities in Allegany, Garrett, Hampshire and Mineral County. Proudly displaying the 365 window decal on a store front will let customers know the business is committed to creating positive outcomes and change for families and individuals – our friends and neighbors.
The organization is happy to announce Subway stores in LaVale and Frostburg as the first participants in Allegany County. While there are many ways businesses can buy in, the two stores chose to have full employee participation by pooling tips each month to make the donations. Executive Director Juli McCoy shared “we are excited to launch this initiative for United Way. Our volunteers have been working diligently to share the information and educate local business owners about the opportunity throughout the communities we serve. We look forward to others joining us!”
McCoy noted that there are a number of ways to join the circle – through a direct business contribution, engaging employees, or by holding a fundraiser.
