Allegany County Finance Director Jason Bennett has informed the county commissioners that almost a half a million dollars in slots revenue from the Rocky Gap Casino Resort is available for local nonprofits and municipalities to apply for. During a brief presentation on the annual slots allocations- Bennett said a variety of community initiatives are continuing to benefit from the 3.75 percent of gross slots proceeds given to the county each year from video lottery terminals located at the casino- however there have been some changes mandated by the state. A bill passed during the 2017 General Assembly session l now requires officials to give 20 percent of slots revenue to area nonprofits and municipalities for capital projects.
