Concert to fight kidney disease at Shrine Club Tonight

A Concert to Fight Kidney Disease, featuring The Kidney Stones, a Rolling Stones tribute band, will be held March 31 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Ali Ghan Shrine Club. The event is open to the public for a meet-and-greet with dialysis patients, transplant recipients and anyone facing kidney disease at 5:30 p.m. There will be medical professionals on hand and screening not involving taking blood samples will be offered. The event also will include speakers, giveaways and other activities. 

Twenty musicians will play classic rock ’n’ roll and other songs. Attire from the 1970s is suggested but not required. Doors for the music will open at 6:30 p.m.

Musicians participating include Adam Swayne, Vicki Silverfeather, Kevin Lloyd (drummer-at-large), Tim “Tug” McGraw, Arnie Helmick and Don Ward.

Also appearing will be The Ally Norris Band with Ally Norris, Ken Nolan, Harley Kuhn and Greg Larry. Night Traveler with Larry, Gary Price and Jay Halterman will play along with King Street featuring Chip Burkey, Tom Harrison, Larry Ward and John Macy.

Other bands include The Channel Cats with Pat Sullivan and Tom “T.J.” Jenkins joined by Craig Knippenberg, formerly of the Chinese Bandits. The finale will feature The Kidney Stones.

Proceeds will benefit the National Kidney Foundation of Maryland and help local dialysis patients.

 

Tickets will be available at the door or online at www.kidneymd.org, where tax-deductible donations also may be made.

The Ali Ghan kitchen will be open for anyone wishing to order from the menu.
