The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has issued to citations to a development company following a fatal construction accident at a Wheeling warehouse.
The Intelligencer reports that the agency handed out fines of $1,200 and $7,000 in July to Sandow Development LLC for failing to inform employees of hazardous chemicals and not providing fall protection.
The citations followed the January death of 39-year-old Kevin Purpura. Purpura fell while inspecting metal studding near an elevator shaft.
Area director for OSHA's Charleston office Prentice Cline says the company has since fixed the violations and paid the fees. The newspaper reports that Sandow Development settled the fines for the amounts of $840 and $4,900.
Sandow Development could not immediately be reached for comment.
