The Cumberland Times News reports that family, friends and the law enforcement community throughout the tri-state area mourned the death Tuesday of Mineral County Sheriff's Deputy Jeremy Franks, who died Monday night at his Grant County residence of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. West Virginia State Police said is investigating the death of Franks, who was reportedly found alone at his Patterson Creek Road residence near Burlington just after 7 p.m. Roden said Franks was off duty at the time of the incident and there were no witnesses. Franks joined the sheriff's office in 2014. A 2004 graduate of Keyser High School, Franks was a graduate of Waynesburg (Pa.) University where he received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and the West Virginia State Police Academy.
