Commissioners Faced with Challenging Budget Process

Faced with some significant unknowns that carry the potential of a major fiscal hit- the Allegany County Commissioners are looking at a challenging budget process- one that could include the eventual consideration of increasing taxes. The commissioners held their initial, preliminary budget work session Thursday afternoon with County Finance Director Jason Bennett providing an overview of what lies ahead. The biggest question mark at this point is how the state will determine covering the cost of the recommended $4.4 billion in education funding proposed by the Kirwan Commission.     Scrap the do-nothing CEDC. No remodeling of Baltimore street. Do a basic bridge repair as opposed to the premium option. Forget the river-front water park that will bring no revenue. You may not have to raise taxes.

    Import more people from Baltimore who don’t pay any damn taxes drive out people with higher taxes the do pay taxes
