Commissioners Expected To Vote Next Month On Plans To Offer Cash Incentives To Retirement Ready Employees

The Allegany County Commissioners took official action Thursday to move forward in offering retirement ready employees cash incentives to step down early next year.   Jason Bennett, county finance director, reported recently that flat revenues left the county with a nearly $1 million deficit in the fiscal year 2018 budget forcing commissioners to fill the gap with money from the fund balance.  The county has about 450 employees. About 61 who have reached age 62 would be eligible for the buyout, and commissioners are expected to vote on the plan next month…
