WBAL reports Maryland Commerce Secretary Kelly Schulz said Friday she is looking forward to businesses safely reopening in the state while her department help through grants and loans.
“We want to do it safely. We’re also tracking the other states in how they’re doing it, and it’s an all-out effort working with the Maryland Department of Health and the state police,” Schulz told C4.
The Maryland Department of Commerce is helping small businesses get the $175 million in state grants and loans.
“It’s probably been a longer process than any of us would have liked to have had,” Schulz said. “We have roughly about 1,400 business grants that have gone out, which is about a quarter of the businesses that have been in place.”
