A Cumberland woman died Friday evening while attempting to remove a struck deer from a roadway. Maryland State Police report that at 5:36 Friday a vehicle driven by Albert Francis Long of Cumberland struck a deer on Route 51 near Mexico Farms Road. A passenger, Hazel Louise Arnold, 63, of Cumberland, exited the vehicle to remove the animal. Arnold was struck by a vehicle driven by James David Johnson, 57, of Cumberland. Arnold was transported to the hospital by Cumberland Fire Department Ambulance where she was pronounced deceased. Charges are still pending.
