On Monday, November 5th, 2018 the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Dalton Scott Smith charging him with four counts of possession of forged currency. On October 24th, 2018 the Cumberland Police investigated complaints of counterfeit currency being passed at local businesses. The bills were recovered and with several investigative techniques, Smith was developed as a suspect. He was questioned and admitted to possessing and passing the counterfeit bills. Smith signed and received copies of the charging document and was released pending trial.
