On Wednesday, July 11th, 2018 the Cumberland Police Department responded to a Grand Avenue address for a theft complaint. When the officer arrived, he spoke with the victim who alleged that her daughter had taken several times from her residence with the intent to pawn them. Contact was made with the daughter, identified as Makayla A. Gross who admitted to the officer that she did in fact takes large screen TV, Laptop computer and a sum off currency. The total of the items were $1500 and Gross was arrest for felony theft. She was later taken before the District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held on a $5,000 bond.

Assault Arrest
On Wednesday, July 11th, 2018 the Cumberland Police Department responded to a Brookfield Avenue address for the report of an assault. When officers arrived, contact with made with a female victim that alleged she was struck in the head by Christopher Lynn Runyon who she resided with. Officers observed injuries to her forehead and face that were consistent with her statement to officers. Runyon was located a short time later and placed under arrest. He was transported to the Cumberland Police Department for processing and taken before the District Court Commissioner for a bond review. He was then remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held without bond.

ASSAULT ARREST
On Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at approximately 8:00 PM, the Cumberland Police Department responded to an Elm Street residence in reference to an assault that occurred on Spring Street. Upon the officers’ arrival, they met with the victim who reported that she was assaulted by the suspect, Patrick Smith Jr. The victim had sustained injuries. Officers then contacted Smith at the Spring Street residence. After investigation into the incident, Smith was placed under arrest for the assault and transported to police headquarters. Smith was processed and taken before the Allegany District Court Commissioner. Smith was released on his personal recognizance pending trial.

THEFT ARREST
On Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at approximately 4:15 AM, the Cumberland Police Department responded to a Maryland Avenue business for a shoplifting complaint. Upon the officers’ arrival, they contacted the suspect, Paul Harman. The staff reported that Harman had eaten items from the store and left without paying for them. Harman was arrested and transported to police headquarters. Harman was issued a criminal citation and released pending trial at the Allegany County District Court.

FIVE MISTAKES IN TWO SENTENCES?!? A Chinese exchange student would have done much better.
