The Cumberland Mayor and City Council voted last week to approve a memorandum of understanding with Maryland Broadband Cooperative pertaining to installing new broadband fiber optics under a portion of the downtown mall. That, of course, will be just one part of the overall redesign of the mall which will also see the replacement of below-ground utility lines; creating a lane for vehicular traffic; adding limited parking spaces and updating the look with a new urban design.
