The City of Cumberland Office of Economic Development is pleased to announce a collaborative effort with Allegany College of Maryland to explore the feasibility of transforming the historic former courthouse building at 19 Frederick Street into a collaborative center for education, training, and incubation/co-work space focused on the Information Technology and Cyber-Security industries. A study will be undertaken to determine the viability and sustainability of a self-sufficient facility able to assist in delivering world class training and educational resources while also creating an outlet for entrepreneurs within the region. Incubation and co-work facilities will be intermingled with training and educational facilities to create a collaborative environment meant to spur creativity and innovation. City Councilman David Kauffman has been a longtime advocate of having the city work with regional partners to find ways of leveraging resources to positively impact the post-secondary educational needs of its citizens.
