After hearing from experts on behalf of the applicant for the first two days of hearings, the Allegany County Board of Zoning appeals began hearing testimony on Thursday from citizens and groups for and against the proposed Dans Mountain Wind Farm project. The hearing has focused on a request from the developer for special exception and variances for the project. The proposed 17-turbine wind farm project has its supporters and detractors. Those favoring the project point to a new revenue stream for the county- while opponants are concerned about the viewshed, noise, electromagnetic interference and other issues. One of those speaking on the pro wind farm side Thursday morning was Allegany County Chamber of Commerce executive director Stu Czapski.
