The Cumberland Economic Development Corporation is continuing to work with a city plan to re-open the downtown pedestrian mall to vehicular traffic. CEDC executive director Paul Kelly says the plan includes converting the former M&T Bank building into a 48-room hotel.  He said the CEDC has applied for a $5.76 million Maryland Department of Transportation grant for the project.
