Wednesday, August 31 at 10:00AM, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), a member of the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, will take his “Made in Maryland” jobs tour to Amethyst Technologies in Halethorpe. Based at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) research and technology park, Amethyst Technologies is a Maryland-based woman-owned, minority-owned small business providing innovative services to the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, health care, food and beverage industries, as well as to the federal government. Earlier this month, Amethyst affiliate Advent Laboratories, Inc. announced that it would be expanding to Frostburg, bringing approximately 20 jobs to the region.
“Made in Maryland is about highlighting the very best entrepreneurs, innovators and doers throughout the state of Maryland. Amethyst Technologies is making a real difference in the biotech industry, supporting the federal government and other companies be better at their missions. I will continue the fight to ensure a level playing field for all our small businesses,” said Senator Cardin. “Maryland has an educated and highly skilled workforce ready to take on the challenges ahead across many disciplines. I’m looking forward to learning more about Amethyst Technologies successes, talking to their workers, and hearing about their bright future in Maryland.”
