Following two mass shootings last weekend, Senator Ben Cardin told a town hall meeting crowd in Annapolis that this is a national public health crisis. The Maryland Democrat spoke at an Annapolis retirement community. Sixty residents of the Ginger Cove retirement community gathered for a town hall meeting in which Cardin addressed the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton. Cardin said there is "no justification for private ownership of assault weapons," and that such weapons should be removed from the public.
