Troy Turner, the father of missing children Sarah and Jacob Hoggle, will host a candlelight vigil Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Chick-fil-A on Century Boulevard in Germantown to mark four years since he last saw his children. Sarah, 3, and Jacob, 2, were last seen with their mother, Catherine Hoggle. Catherine Hoggle, who has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, is being held in a state psychiatric hospital and is refusing to say what happened to Sarah and Jacob. Hoggle was last deemed to be incompetent to stand trial Feb. 21 and her next court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 30. Turner, a Cumberland native, issued a statement on the “Justice for Sarah and Jacob” Facebook page on Dec. 27 that said, “…thank you all for your support for the last three years, and for keeping awareness of Sarah and Jacob out there. We understand a lot of you have strong feelings about Sarah and Jacob. We do too. However, based on the passage of time, information we have, and Catherine’s own statements about what she did, we no longer believe Sarah and Jacob are alive.
“With the pending murder charges against Catherine it wouldn’t be appropriate for us to be more specific, and for that we are sorry. We are still committed to bringing them home. But the searches will have a different focus. We hope you continue to support us, and help in the upcoming searches.”
Family and friends of Turner and his children will be in attendance for the vigil.
Turner hopes that members of the community also come to show support.
Anyone who has information about the disappearance of Sarah and Jacob is asked to call the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at 800-843-5678.
