One of those addressing the Canal Place Task Force at a public meeting this week was Doug Hutchins of Cumberland Trail Connection- and he was critical of the concept of selling off parts of Canal Place and moving away from the original concept. A handful of citizens provided input to the task force, which was formed in 2018. The charge of the task force is to determine if Canal Place, which opened in 1993, can be enhanced to attract more tourists and increase revenues or if it should be divided and sold off to private investors. Hutchins says he takes exception to what he would like to see the Task Force focus on what can be done to improve the current operation- as opposed to looking to break it up and sell it off…
