The future of the Footer Dye Works building and Canal Place were among the topics addressed by Maryland’s Budget Secretary David Brinkley Friday morning when he was a guest on WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show”. The fate of the historical structure remains up in the air. While a developer is in place and an anchor business ready to commit- the Canal Place Authority still needs more than $1.2 million in capital funds from the state for critical infrastructure improvements to the building. Governor Larry Hogan’s preliminary capital budget released last week did not contain any funding for the Footer project. Brinkley was asked if simply demolishing the building- which some in the community view as an eye sore- would be a viable option at this point:
