May 24th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

Delegate Jason Buckel has returned from attending a major trade show in Las Vegas- having gone at the request of the Allegany County Commissioners.  The International Council of Shopping Centers is  widely attended by economic development business leaders from across the country including officials from the Maryland Department of Commerce and Governor Larry Hogan.  Also attending on behalf of the county was a representative from Greenwell Associates-  a consulting firm retained by the county to focus on economic development.  Buckel tells WCBC News that the event provided a good opportunity to network with thousands of retail representatives from across the nation- including the Florida based owners of the Country Club Mall in LaVale…

Appearing tanned and rested and wearing an Hawaiian print shirt, cargo shorts, and flip flops Delegate Jason Buckel returned from Las Vegas.
While it’s a little to soon to comment on the record hopes are high that a new Dollar Store will be coming to the Cumberland area.

      >Be patient Mac. The Rolling Mills project is just around the corner. Construction set to begin in the spring of 2026. The west side bridges might be repaired by then as well.

Hey there we here are all free Americans. We are allowed to choose what we wear, think and do. (Except for a few illegal immigrants who have disregarded our laws and are here because they feel it is their right to share our way of living) NOTE: We already got out new Dollar Store. (It replaced the old Hater Funeral Home in LaVale.

Rolling Hills is being force fed to Cumberland residents whether we need it or not) Thanks to a privileged few who have been gifted with futuristic vision. Local input from citizens is required to be asked for by mandate, but rarely seriously considered.

The remedy to our West side bridge problem will soon fix itself as the corrosion advances they will collapse and fall in the tracks and if the railroad wants to continue running their trains on them, they’ll have to clean them up and hail them away. PROBLEM SOLVED !

      > Paolo Primavera, it appears that you do not recognize satire when you read it. I’m sorry if I made that a little too difficult for you. I’ll try to use small words and short sentences in the future.

Does anyone besides me see the irony/absurdity of sending Buckle to event that focuses on retail opportunities. I thought our leaders acknowledged and recognized publicly a few weeks ago the concept that we needed something more than a few new $10/hr retail jobs…..or is this really the limits of their vision for economic development?
