Damn I-68 is nothing more than a tractor-trailer demolition derby every DAMN day. How many innocent people have to die before our TAXPAYER funded police start cracking down on these threats to our LIVES?? Funny how thousands of police can show up to beat up little girls at PEACEFUL protests though.

Hey DPM, although I agree with you about the tractor trailers on I68, your assessment of our police officers is way off course. How can you call rioting and looting a peaceful protest. Wake up and wipe the dirt from your eyes and see the real world. Not the fake world that main stream media portray s.You better hope the police are available when the “peaceful protesters” come to your house. Back The Blue!

DPM there are no words to describe the stupidity in your comment. It proves liberalism is a mental disorder. I think you should move to Portland with your own kind. In fact, I’ll pay for you to move.

Ignorance is bliss DPM and you’re full of it. You have no idea if this truck driver fell sleep yet you’re willing to blame the police who you think should be focusing more on speeders than crime.

Maybe if the police would actually monitor the damn roads and enforce the speed limit of these tractor trailer drivers who think they can do whatever they please. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Why do people like you even speak without knowing the facts? Why do you assume the professional tractor trailer driver is at fault? Ignorance runs rampant on this website.

I can solve two problems at the same time.
Shut down I-68 permanently from Willowbrook Road to LaVale. Reroute all traffic along National Highway to pick up I-68 just past LaVale and just past downtown.
Now there are no more accidents through Cumberland AND the lack of parking downtown will be solved as the Highway can be used for free parking throughout the city..

well makayla let me enlighten u about tractor trailer drivers ..first off if it wasnt for the trucks u bitch about u wouldn’t have the soap the food the anything u want cause wake up a truck brought that to the store or the package to ur house for u to enjoy so before u put them down educate urself on the life of one before u claim they all do what they want..that statement is so stupid. My husband has drove 20 years plus np accidents on haystack or injuries to anyone. These new drivers come right outta driving school onto the road no experience and thats a dangerous thing sometimes. If u don’t know our area they don’t know to gear down after the scale house in finzel and start down the mountain riding the brakes educate urself before u speak.

      > What, they cant read ALL OF The Signs, coming down from Frostburg. For 40 years I’ve traveled that route and seldom seen ANY trucker going 45 MPH (from Clarysville bridge down). Usually going 65 -70 MPH (local or not), but I understand the need for truckers, AND the need for better enforcement – all at the same time.

It’s always automatically the truck driver’s fault in all of these accidents. It could never be the actions of somebody driving a car or a deer running out in front of him. I guess none of you have ever seen anybody do something stupid driving a car and you didn’t have 80,000 pounds to try to maneuver to avoid it.

      > I agree about stupid drivers but concerning the deer in front of you, I learned a long time ago that the best thing to do is hit the deer. You may have a lot of damage but it’s better to slow down and pull off the road rather than try to swerve to avoid hitting it and then placing all cars in danger.

as Far as the tractor and trailers are concerned they do drive entirely too fast above & beyond the speed limit there have been cases where they have side swiped vehicles & not stopped and local police do nothing if I read correctly driver was ejected as he was not wearing a seat belt

When people can’t even agree about highway safety, there is a serious problem. I’d like to think that conservatives and liberals both want to make it safely to their destinations. All of this name calling and making nasty statements isn’t going to help that at all. And in the spirit of human kindness, prayers to the injured individual (regardless of whether or not he was at fault). Thanks to the police who work hard. Thanks also to the hard working truck drivers. I’m not God and it’s not my job to place blame and/or judgement on others.
