BOE Members Get Detailed Look At Budget

The Allegany County Board of Education members got their first detailed look at the superintendent’s proposed FY 2016 budget on Tuesday- and it calls for a total increase of a little more than $3 million, or 2.8%.  That increase includes more than a million more in county funding for operations, and $355,000 more for a state mandated pension payment. Finance Director Randy Bittinger provided a detailed overview of the recommendations for close to 90 minutes. Superintendent David Cox emphasized that this is just the first step in the budget process. With the approval of his budget plan Tuesday, the board will present its request to the County Commissioners next week, and then have to wait to see what the final county allocation is before taking final action.  In addition, Cox said that actual final state numbers aren’t known at this point…
