The Tribune Democrat reports Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the suspicious deaths of two people found inside a northern Bedford County home early Wednesday. The Brumbaugh Road home — located in East St. Clair Township near Interstate 99 — was being treated as a potential crime scene Wednesday, with state police conducting interviews and gathering evidence while a forensics unit mapped the scene, according to Trooper Joseph Dunsmore, a public information officer with the barracks.
Dunsmore said state police were still in the "very preliminary" stages of their investigation and could not provide many details into what occurred. But investigators believe this is a localized incident with no threat posed to the surrounding community, he added.
State police were called to the scene by relatives of the deceased individuals, Dunsmore said.
"Family members were attempting to make contact with the residence but were unable to do so," he added, saying that it prompted some of them to visit the home.
Once they arrived, they found the pair dead at the scene, Dunsmore said.
Bedford County Coroner Russell Styer's office is also assisting with the case.
He said autopsies necessary to determine the cause and manner of the deaths weren't likely to be conducted until Thursday.
