Steps to determine the full extent of the deterioration of the Baltimore Street bridge will be taking place this week- and it will have an impact on traffic. City Administrator Jeff Rhodes has said that the Baltimore Street structure- the main gateway to the downtown area from the West Side- will be reduced to one lane beginning Tuesday to allow for bridge analysis. City engineer Bobby Smith said the work will impact traffic from June 25 to 28- adding that the plan is to get some analysis performed on the concrete and other areas beneath the bridge. The work is expected to run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day and flaggers will route vehicles around the work.
