Baltimore man sentenced for assaulting police officer

The Office of the State’s Attorney for Allegany County, Maryland, Michael O. Twigg, State’s Attorney, announced:  On Tuesday January 30, 2018 the Honorable Jeffrey S. Getty, Judge of the Circuit Court for Allegany County, Maryland, sentenced Anthony Samuel Johnson, 30, of Baltimore, Maryland, to thirty three (33) years actual incarceration within the Division of Corrections. The sentence was the result of a trial held on May 31, 2017, in which Johnson was found guilty, by a jury of his peers of, First Degree Assault, and Disarming a Law Enforcement Officer, as well as other related offenses. In a related matter the Honorable W. Timothy Finan sentenced Mr. Johnson to an additional twenty (20) years of incarceration to run concurrent with the previous sentence.  This sentence was a result of a plea entered by Mr. Johnson on June 7, 2017.  Upon release Mr. Johnson will be subject to a period of supervised probation. 

Prosecuting the case for the State was Assistant State’s Attorney Samuel Lane; Mr. Johnson was represented by Garland Sanderson, Esq.
