On Saturday, January 7, 2017 at approximately 6:25 P.M, members of the Cumberland City Police Department responded to a reported stabbing at a private residence located in the 700 block of Elm Street in Cumberland, Maryland.
When Officers arrived, they learned that a 50 year old male had been stabbed in the upper chest. Members of the Cumberland Fire Department responded to the scene and treated the victim prior to transporting him to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for further treatment of his injuries. The injuries sustained by the victim do not appear to be life threatening.
Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) responded to assist in the investigation. Contact was made with the only other occupant of the residence at the time of the stabbing, identified as being 47 year old Teresa Ann Schaumloeffel of Cumberland, Maryland. The scene was processed and evidence was collected, to include the knife that was used in the stabbing. Schaumloeffel and the victim reside together at the residence.
Through interviews and the collection of evidence at the scene, Investigators were able to determine that Teresa Ann Schaumloeffel had stabbed the 50 year old male victim.
The suspect was arrested and criminally charged with 1st Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment. Upon Completion of processing, Schaumloeffel will be taken before a District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing.
