U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) continued her Maryland Jobs and College Affordability Tour in Western Maryland this week- discussing her continued fight to support jobs through federal investments in communities with access to affordable higher education. With stops in Garrett and Allegany counties, Senator Mikulski announced federal grant funding to Western Maryland communities provided by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC). During a visit to Allegany College of Maryland Thursday morning, Mikulski announced that the ARC has awarded a $87,000 federal grant to Allegany College to purchase 15 new dental hygiene units which will improve efficiency for students, reduce expensive repair costs, and help maintain hygiene services offered to the public.
