The Cumberland Times News reports that less than a month before the starting gun sounds, organizers of the second annual Howard’s 25K Run are working on the details of expanding their offering to the region’s running community.
With the addition of Hunter Douglas as 25K presenting sponsor and Potomac Farms Dairy as 5K naming sponsor, the charity benefit event for the Allegany County Animal Shelter is set to attract even more runners than last year’s successful inaugural edition.
“The goal for this year’s race was to retain as many enthusiasts as last year and add a few new wrinkles to attract the attention of runners that were on the fence last year,” said Ray Hunt, co-director. This included the addition of a cash bonus, courtesy of One Main Financial, of $100 for runners should they win and break the respective course records established last year. Additionally, this year’s finisher medals will be custom designed to match the race logo.
Official race shirts will be more colorful and utilize a higher-grade material. “None of this happens without Hunter Douglas. Gaining their support was key to upgrading the race experience,” said Hunt.
