The staff and volunteers of the Allegany County Animal Shelter were called into action Saturday to aid a family whose father had recently passed away in Frostburg. A total of 18 kittens and 4 adult cats were recovered, with a few more adult cats still being sought.
Shelter Director Tina Rafferty tells WCBC News that the kittens and cats are doing well and have been bathed. The kittens are all two to five weeks old, and a Momma cat is nursing 10 of them. Rafferty said there was a great response from the community to the situation, and volunteers are always welcome at the shelter.
She said her staff is working on compiling a list of emergency foster families that could be utilized in future emergencies.
