The Allegany County Public School System will extend the end of the third marking period of the 2014-2015 school year to Wednesday, April 1, 2015, as the result of additional lost instructional days due to inclement weather. Wednesday, March 25, 2015, will now be a full day for students. Report card distribution has been delayed until Thursday, April 16, 2015. Additionally, the local school board was granted permission from the State Superintendent of Schools to reclaim Monday, April 6, 2015, as an instructional make-up day with a three-hour early dismissal. The afternoon will be used for teacher work time. The board reclaimed Thursday, April 2, 2015, last month to be used as a make-up day as well. This day will also be a three-hour early dismissal. Schools have been closed a total of ten days due to inclement weather this year. Since the request to use April 6th as a student day was approved, the last day of school for students will be Thursday, June 11, 2015, and the last day for teachers will be on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, pending no further school closings.
